The French Ministry of Culture has announced that Laure Prouvost will represent France at the 58th edition of the Venice Biennale in 2019.
The artist, winner of the Max Mara Art Prize for Women 2011-2013 and the Turner Prize 2013, has been selected for “her ability to take on both intimate and universal subject matter, that she releases in the space using a multidisciplinary practice.”
Prouvost is considered one of the most inventive French artist of her generation, she “experiments with real and personal notions of language and translation. Her multidisciplinary practice is often driven by irony and poetry as she proposes her visions of things, bodies and life.”
